About the role
We are seeking a highly qualified Office Engineer to join our construction oversight team. This role includes part-time support from a Drafter/CAD Technician and plays a critical function in ensuring the quality and compliance of all site materials and construction activities. The Inspector will collaborate closely with project stakeholders and the Authority to maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Inspect all construction materials to verify compliance with project Plans and Specifications.
- Oversee all construction activities to ensure adherence to quality workmanship standards.
- Maintain accurate daily records of contractor personnel, including number and classification of workers, via the Authority’s CapEx Manager System.
- Prepare and submit daily field reports and documentation of construction and engineering work using the CapEx Manager System.
- Provide weekly quantity summaries for each contract item in a format specified by the Authority.
- Track and maintain running totals of quantities and associated costs during construction progress.
- Document daily equipment usage by type and size using the CapEx Manager System.
- Review and monitor traffic protection procedures on-site.
- Review and coordinate contractor submittals in accordance with project Plans and Specifications.
- Attend project meetings and conferences as directed by the Authority.
- Conduct material testing to confirm compliance with project specifications.
Qualifications
- NICET Level III Certification in Construction or Civil Engineering Technology (required).
- ACI Field-Testing Technician Grade 1 Certification (required).
- Proven experience in inspection of civil construction projects and material testing.
- Proficiency in daily reporting and tracking using systems such as the Authority’s CapEx Manager.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply project specifications and standards.
- Experience with CAD drafting and submittal review is a plus.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $60 - $70 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
