About this role: 

Hi, I’m Aabhas and I’m the CTO here at Found. Thanks for your interest. Our team is responsible for taking products from ideation to being used by tens of thousands of users every week. We’re a small but experienced team that has worked on complex problems such as money movement and taxes at Square, on-demand delivery at Uber, and building large-scale support solutions at Microsoft. Our team values moving fast while moving safely, investing in engineering excellence, and sharing learnings early and often.

We are looking for our first Data Science hire for the Risk Engineering team, and I personally review every application, so if you have any questions please include them in your application. 

Some fun facts about our Risk Engineering team: 

• The team has gone from inception 6 months ago to being responsible for performing risk analysis on $600M+ of money movement per year – protecting the company from millions of dollars of potential financial loss per year.

• We’ve built several new systems from scratch, including introducing advanced scoring in the hot path (card swipe), Airflow-based fraud pipelines, and more.

• Supported the launch of several new methods of moving money in and out of our platform. 

Day to day, you will:

• Identify different areas of known and unknown risk and provide insights to reduce risk. 

• Analyze large amounts of device, user, and behavioral data to identify clusters of bad users.

• Identify and create new risk signals to detect fraud. 

• Propose product solutions based on learnings from our data to add friction for fraudulent users without negatively impacting the product experience for good users. 

• Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Data Engineering to measure and consistently improve risk metrics. 

• Design and build tools for the Risk Operations team to automate processes and decision-making. 

• Research novel techniques and best practices to parse large, diverse data sets.

To thrive in this role, you have:

• 5+ years in Data Science/Analytics. 

• Expert with Python/R and SQL. 

• Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for all stakeholders. 

• Proven track record of driving product direction by using data. 

You may also have:

• Previous experience working in Financial Risk. 

• Experience in building ML-based Fraud and Risk models. 

• Previous startup experience.

• Experience with bookkeeping or taxes and how it relates to self-employment.
