Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in a clinical field, such as Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Psychology, or Doctor of Philosophy.
  • At least 2 years of experience in patient care.
  • At least 1 year of experience applying frameworks that integrate social sciences, human context, or public health principles into technology development.
  • At least 1 year of experience evaluating artificial intelligence products or developing digital health products.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute clinical and methodological expertise using artificial intelligence, research, and product expertise to shape product and research roadmaps across Google.
  • Collaborate with research, engineering, product, and user experience teams to guide the integration of human context, including social and structural factors, into generative artificial intelligence model development, evaluation, and product design.
  • Support the development of robust data pipelines for the end-to-end lifecycle of complex health datasets, ensuring curation and analysis are grounded in human context.
  • Identify and implement technical interventions at critical points in the model development lifecycle, from pre-training dataset curation through product deployment, to ensure effective health artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Apply methodologies to evaluate artificial intelligence model performance across various populations, combining machine learning, social science, and public health principles to build scalable health artificial intelligence approaches.
  • Plan and execute project goals to embed human context into the early stages of artificial intelligence development for research programs and products.
  • Support the creation and evaluation of generative artificial intelligence solutions to achieve meaningful health impact at global scale.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of generative artificial intelligence solutions using clinical and artificial intelligence expertise and knowledge of the research-to-product lifecycle.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product management, user experience and user experience research, legal, and regulatory affairs teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced computational degree, such as a Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Public Health, or Master of Science, with applied health experience in nursing informatics, biomedical informatics, human-computer interaction, biostatistics, behavioral science, or computer science.
  • Experience in clinical practice in global settings or treating patients across the lifespan, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Computational skills in artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to health, including developing and using methods to evaluate and mitigate model performance through disaggregated evaluation and benchmarking.
  • A background in medical anthropology, sociology, ecological systems, or other sociobehavioral sciences.
  • A demonstrated record of health-related publications or contributions to health-domain artificial intelligence and machine learning products.
