Requirements
  • Licensed Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (M.D. or D.O.).
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required
  • Annual influenza vaccine required; exception for medical or religious exemption with mask during flu season
  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved post-graduate residency; board certification in the appropriate specialty or actively seeking board certification
  • Applicant must be board certified within five (5) years of residency completion
  • A current Drug Enforcement Administration certificate is required if applicant is requesting privileges to prescribe controlled substances
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain it thereafter
  • A current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is required if applicant is requesting obstetrics privileges
  • Additional education may be required for some specialty areas (orthopedics, etc.)
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required
  • Knowledge or an interest in the unique cultural aspects of the Hispanic people is needed
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provides primary medical care services to Sea Mar patients in accordance with training, experience, certification, insurance and licensure, and in line with Sea Mar principles and mission statement
  • Provides appropriate hospital and institutional care as required
  • May refer patients to medical specialists or other sources of service when necessary
  • Prescribes and/or dispenses required medication according to the prescriptive authority granted by the Washington State Board
  • Participates in organizing and directing preventive health programs such as immunization, disease detection and disease prevention activities, including educational programs for patients and community groups in service areas with approval from the Medical Director and/or Health Center Administrator
  • Participates in clinical affairs, working with administrative personnel, the Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer to improve the patient care experience
  • Provides care for special groups of patients such as those in nursing homes or other institutions when appropriate
