Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED, or 10 years of work experience.
  • For Wisconsin work locations, graduation from a medical assistant school or training program, or education equivalency for certification.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One accepted medical assistant credential: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant Certification, Medical Assistant (RMA), Medical Assistant Certification, National Certified Medical Assistant, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant credential from an accepted certifying organization.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements, including constant standing and walking; frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, gripping, keyboard use, and data entry; and occasional patient lifting or movement.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and perform selected clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, record patient information in charts, and prepare examination rooms.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  • Order and stock supplies and help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Document provider encounters with patients when needed, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe provider orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
