- Two years of medical or clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, or graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
- Certified Medical Assistant credential.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Perform point-of-care testing and quality control.
- Perform electrocardiograms as necessary.
- Ensure positive patient identification.
- Utilize the current health information system, Document Imaging, Delaware Health Information Network, Gold, Provider Portal, insurance verification and eligibility websites, and other systems as needed.
- Follow protocols appropriate for the practice.
- Complete office support tasks accurately and within required time frames.
- Return and retrieve messages timely and use electronic medical record inboxes to sort messages.
- Operate office equipment using proper technique.
- Maintain a clean and stocked patient care area.
- Assist nurses and technicians with patient preparation for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Prioritize duties, demonstrate initiative, seek out duties, and assist staff as needed.
- Participate actively in performance improvement.
- Handle biohazard materials safely, including manual specimen delivery to the laboratory and changing gloves between patients.
- Handle and label specimens correctly for transfer to the laboratory.
- Perform duties using appropriate personal protective equipment and in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
- Perform other assigned duties.
