- Work with access leadership to optimize scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to meet volume demands.
- Coordinate patient care in partnership with physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments.
- Prepare and implement surge, inclement weather, and other specialized plans to assure patient throughput and staffing coverage.

- Ensure adherence to radiation-safety standards and oversee modality-specific quality programs.
- Lead and support quality-improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
- Provide direct leadership to on-site modality managers, supervisors, technologists, technical assistants, transport personnel, and other support personnel.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and ensure ongoing staff competency.
- Promote staff engagement, retention strategies, and professional-development opportunities.
- Implement staffing-pipeline strategies and partner with local schools and programs to secure a consistent flow of students.

Air Methods, Emory Healthcare announce rebrand of AirLife 5 to Emory Flight. Share On... by Air Methods posted July 29, 2026 Branded H145 helicopter returns Emory Flight name to Georgia KENNESSAW, GA - July 29, 2026- Air Methods, the nation's leading air medical service provider, announced that AirLife Georgia 5, based in Kennesaw, has been rebranded as Emory Flight 1 - as the base received a new H145 helicopter to allow for expanded in-flight critical care transport. "This collaboration joins a national leader in air medicine with a national healthcare leader in ground medicine," says Air Methods Regional Sales Director Zach Nicholson. "Having two organizations that continue to push themselves to enhance treatment options will ensure that our shared patients receive the best possible care from industry-leading clinicians, regardless of where they are located in Georgia or surrounding states." The Kennesaw base is staffed by Air Methods' highly trained pilots, clinicians, and mechanics. The new aircraft will be large enough to transport Emory Healthcare specialty teams throughout the region, as well as carry specialized medical equipment, including baby pods for infant transports and large equipment to support complex cardiac patient transports. Crews will also carry blood products for in-flight administration of patients experiencing severe blood loss and at risk for hemorrhagic shock. "The addition of Emory Flight 1 represents an important investment in how we connect patients to the specialized care they need throughout the region," says Heather Brooks, RN, BSN, senior vice president of the Emory Healthcare Capacity Command Center. "As Emory Healthcare continues to expand access to advanced services across Georgia, this aircraft strengthens our ability to rapidly transport critically ill patients, deploy specialty care teams and support time-sensitive interventions. Through our collaboration with Air Methods, we are enhancing our capacity to deliver the highest level of care while improving access for the communities we serve." The aircraft will also act as an extension of Emory Healthcare's industry-leading Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program, the most advanced form of life support for individuals with heart or lung failure. Air Methods clinicians are trained to care for patients needing ECMO treatment and will work with Emory Healthcare's ECMO team to expand that coverage beyond traditional healthcare settings. The collaboration returns the Emory Flight brand to the community after Air Methods and Emory Healthcare previously operated co-branded bases in Griffin, Jefferson, and Cartersville. In addition to the Emory Flight base in Kennesaw, Air Methods will continue to operate AirLife Georgia bases in Griffin, Cornelia, Jasper, Newnan, Covington, and Blairsville. Air Methods also has Lifestar-branded bases in Springfield and Hinesville. It didn't take long for her to realize she also needed to think about social media from a customer service perspective. Laura Kuechenmeister, former corporate director of content marketing and design at Emory Healthcare, now senior marketing manager at City of Hope, Atlanta "Publishing is the way most brands still think about social media, even in 2026," she says, "but early on, people started using platforms like Twitter to complain to brands about their experience." Emory's surplus PPE distribution supports global, local and sustainable stewardship. April 27, 2026 As health care systems emerged from the unprecedented pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new challenge surfaced behind the scenes: responsibly managing large volumes of unused personal protective equipment (PPE) that was nearing expiration and no longer required for clinical care. Emory's Business Operations Department tackled the challenge of dealing with PPE stored at Emory's Northlake Mall location and an Emory Healthcare warehouse in Clarkston. The multi-year, large-scale redistribution effort concluded in 2025, redirecting approximately 1,000 pallets of PPE - representing an estimated $10.5 million in inventory value - away from the waste stream and into productive reuse through trusted nonprofit and education partners. "This effort reflects the very best of Emory: caring responsibly for our resources, our communities and our partners," says Debby Morey, vice president of business operations. "I am incredibly proud of the collaboration that transformed a potential burden into meaningful local and global impact." Global health impact through strategic partnership. A significant portion of redistributed PPE was delivered through MATTER NGO, a global nonprofit specializing in repurposing medical resources for communities facing the greatest need. Emory-facilitated contributions to MATTER in 2025 included 218 pallets with 116,194 pounds of medical supplies. These materials are already supporting MATTER's health care delivery and humanitarian programs worldwide while extending the useful life of critical supplies. Local impact for teachers and classrooms across Georgia. Emory's Business Operations Department also partnered with Georgia Bio Sciences to ensure surplus PPE directly supported life science and biotechnology educators across Georgia. During the pandemic, many schools donated PPE to hospitals and were never able to replace it. As a result, hands-on laboratory instruction - particularly in health care and biotech courses - was significantly limited. This redistribution effort helped restore those learning environments. Georgia Bio Sciences coordinated PPE redistribution to public schools, biotech classrooms and education partners statewide, reaching educators in urban, rural and Title I school systems. Distribution combined coordinated Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) shipments with district- and school-level education networks, ensuring PPE reached teachers actively delivering lab-based instruction. Over the course of several weeks, a cross-organizational team delivered nine shipments totaling approximately 60,000 pounds of PPE to five RESAs. Additional distribution through district- and school-level education networks extended the materials' reach across Georgia. For educators, the impact was immediate and practical: * PPE enabled the return of hands-on laboratory instruction. * Teachers could again demonstrate proper gowning, aseptic technique and cleanroom protocols. * Students experienced realistic health care and life science environments, including extended use of protective equipment. Access to PPE also eased financial pressure on schools. Teachers reported being able to redirect limited budgets away from basic protective supplies and toward higher-impact instructional tools, such as advanced lab equipment and health care training aids. That strengthened classroom outcomes without additional costs. "From the beginning, our goal was to ensure these materials didn't sit idle or end up in the waste stream," says Michael Borjas Pena, business services coordinator. "Coordinating this redistribution was complex but deeply rewarding. It's a reminder that thoughtful stewardship can create real, human impact."
