Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree is required.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • The role requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • The role requires manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, and conducting physical exams.
  • The role requires the capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
  • The role requires visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
  • The role requires auditory ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues and perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
  • The role requires stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
  • The role requires mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other facility areas.
  • The role requires compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care focused on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Assess patients, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions consistent with MUSC policies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate in a professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, and professional development.
  • Promote leadership and clinical excellence through effective team skills, autonomous practice, accountability for actions, and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promote a healthy work environment and accept personal responsibility for professional growth.
