IonQ is developing the world’s most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. Building and operating quantum computers requires lots of classical computers — from high-performance computing clusters to VMs and containerized services, we rely on on-prem and cloud-based computers every day. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help build and maintain this critical infrastructure. In your first 90 days, you’ll help implement automation and capabilities to help us comply with NIST 800-171.

Responsibilities:

Help build out and maintain our on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure
Help develop and implement our digital security capabilities for both our cloud infrastructure and on-prem facilities
Provision infrastructure in the cloud and on-prem
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Monitor systems to analyze and improve performance, security, and reliability
Document configurations and processes
Collaborate closely with software and hardware engineers to continuously improve how we do things

You’d be a good fit with:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent practical experience -- untraditional backgrounds are welcome and encouraged!
5+ years experience in technical infrastructure
3+ years of experience in Linux system administration
2+ years experience in Kubernetes
Expert-level knowledge with a programming language of your choice
Strong written and verbal communication skills

You’d be a great fit with:

5+ years experience with Kubernetes
2+ years experience with Terraform
2+ years experience with Ansible
2+ years experience with VMware-based virtualization
Prior experience running bare-metal Kubernetes clusters
Prior experience provisioning physical servers and network equipment
Prior experience scaling and securing distributed applications

Location:

This position is located in our newest facility in Bothell, WA.

The salary range for this position is $153,003 - $200,321.

The base pay component of the offer will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. The total compensation package may include other elements dependent on the position and level. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. Beyond base pay, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component, as well as a range of benefit options which can be found on our site at ionq.co/jobs. Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland which is only a 15-minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area. Depending on the position, you may be required to be located near our offices in College Park, Seattle, or Toronto.
