The opportunity
Are you a creative designer with a passion for data visualization? As the information design intern, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to create dashboards, reports, and more for a broad range of audience groups across investment teams. Your key focus will be to visually communicate data to be clear, accurate, and visually impactful. If you are excited to develop your design skills to create effective and innovative data visualizations, this is the role for you!
Who you’ll work with
You’ll join the Data & Analytics team, which is a multidisciplinary group of data scientists, data analytics and data visualization experts. In this team, you will work in a highly collaborative environment to deliver high quality data solutions. You’ll also meet and discuss designs directly with our internal business team clients (Capital Markets, Private Investment, and more).
What you’ll do
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with the Senior Information Design Lead to develop data visualization solutions for our internal clients
- Collaborate with data analysts and data modelling professionals to ensure efficient delivery of data
- Design & deliver insightful data displays, reports and dashboards that are both accurate and visually appealing
- Present design solutions to internal clients and collaborate on improvement opportunities
What you’ll need
- Strong visual, interactive, and graphic design skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in articulating design decisions to others
- Experience with PowerBI is an asset
- Data analytics skills an asset
- Examples of design work from previous work terms or personal projects – ideal if examples include a focus on data visualization and/or information design
- Preference may be given to students pursuing a degree related to design, visual communication, data analytics, or related disciplines
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent is an asset
- Previous experience and/or strong interest in investment industry is an asset
- You should be enrolled in a co-op program or returning back to your studies after the work term is completed
