Previous experience reporting on privacy or cybersecurity-related agencies, organizations, and topics, such as the FTC, GDPR, NSA and Justice Department
Curiosity, perseverance, and resourcefulness
Strong drive and ability to jump on breaking news stories and write in-depth analysis on bigger cybersecurity topics
Ability to manage many tasks and write multiple stories per week under tight deadlines
Strong writing skills and the ability to convey stories in a clear and concise manner
Ability to build strong sources across a variety of fields
Excellent communication and collaborations skills
Location flexible - we are open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. and Europe

Responsibilities

Be a leader on cybersecurity news beat, ideally with a focus on privacy, and cultivate a broad audience of government and private sector leaders
Report daily scoops (about 5-10 articles per week) on the latest cybersecurity stories and write in-depth analysis on broader industry trends
Build relationships with a wide range of sources, including government officials, cybersecurity executives, and academic researchers

Desired Qualifications

A familiarity with cybersecurity and privacy policy. Having sources in Congress, the White House, EU privacy commissioner offices, etc. is a plus

What you’ll do as the Reporter:
