Job Duties:
The Athletics Pep Band Director is responsible for leading and managing the University’s pep band program, which performs at various campus events, primarily men’s and women’s basketball and football. The Athletics Pep Band Director will play a vital role in creating a world class in-game atmosphere and promoting school spirit.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics
Work Setting/Work Schedule:
This is a casual, part-time position
Ability to work a variety of schedules - including days, nights and weekends
What You Will Do:
The specific responsibilities of the Athletics Pep Band Director could be, but are not limited to, the following on specific event days:
Rehearse and direct the Bucknell Athletics Pep Band
Lead the band during performances at athletic events and select university events
Select, arrange, and distribute music suitable for sporting events and audience engagement
Collaborate with the Athletics Department, Campus Activities, and Spirit Squad staff to plan coordinated performances and themes
Manage communication with student musicians regarding rehearsals, performances, and expectations
Maintain band equipment, and music library and make recommendations for purchases or repairs
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and spirited environment for all band members
Cultivate and support student leadership opportunities
Monitor expenditures (in conjunction with supervisor and director of business and team services) and stay within budget
Coordinate band participation of qualified members of the community (non-students)
Submit timely preparation of travel rosters for any postseason tournament play
Serve as a visible and enthusiastic leader at events, helping to energize the crowd and support Bucknell Athletics

What You Will Bring:
Prior experience directing or participating in a pep band, marching band, or equivalent ensemble
Strong conducting and musical arranging skills
Knowledge of musical trends in athletic band repertoire
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for rehearsals and games
Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work well independently and in team settings
Physical Requirements:
Work involves physical activity, such as: walking, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
