Requirements
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification, either a certification from an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS certification and proficiency in peritoneal dialysis within the first six months of hire.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work indoors and outside in temperature extremes.
  • Ability to work from elevated areas.
  • Ability to work in confined or cramped spaces.
  • Ability to kneel and bend at the waist; twist at the waist; squat and perform job functions; reach overhead; bend at the waist.
  • Ability to perform pinching operations; gross motor and fine motor movements; fully use both legs; balance and coordination.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted; lift/lower objects from floor to 36 inches unassisted; lift from 36 inches to overhead 25 pounds; exert up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected; ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; color discernment; depth perception; peripheral vision.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction; deal with stressful situations; work rotating shifts; work overtime; maintain latex safe environment.
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use; selected positions.
  • Selected positions may require olfactory sensory function.
Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Highly encourage specialty certification in transplant, wound care, and medical-surgical nursing.
  • Transplant specialty certification, wound care certification, and medical-surgical certification are desirable qualifications.
