Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in failure analysis
  • Familiar with HDD media processes, or those of a similar technology
  • Experience with Optical Microscopy and AFM, and SEM/EDX
  • Familiar with Candela-OSA
  • Database and Query writing skills, and knowledge in statistical analysis (Minitab/JMP) are a plus
  • Excellent team player who thrives on collaboration
  • Strong communication, technical failure analysis report writing, and presentation skills
  • Must be fluent in English
Responsibilities
  • Perform failure analysis on HDD media to identify the root cause of defects
  • Collaborate with lab analysts/technicians to identify the root cause of failure
  • Generate clear and concise failure analysis reports
  • Assist process engineering teams to address the root cause of failures
  • Capture common defect observations and drive defect reduction improvements
  • Develop failure analysis processes and capabilities
  • Innovate failure analysis methodologies and techniques
  • Collaborate with global failure analysis team members and process engineers
  • Develop failure analysis processes for next-generation products
  • Qualifications
