The role
We are seeking to hire an exceptional individual to join our legal team as an Associate Counsel, Human Capital Management. You will have the opportunity to work alongside our Senior Counsel, Corporate and General Counsel to address various legal issues with respect to Schonfeld Strategic Advisors LLC (“Schonfeld”) and its funds, affiliates, portfolio managers and employees. In particular, you will provide dedicated support to Schonfeld’s Human Capital Management team and will have the opportunity to work closely with Schonfeld’s Global Head of Human Capital Management. This is a dynamic opportunity to work also with local and global management and to blend your legal acumen with your desire to get closer to the business. Schonfeld’s Legal & Compliance department is managed by its General Counsel and is comprised of more than 30 legal and compliance professionals based in offices in the U.S., EMEA and APAC.
What you’ll do
You will provide legal advice on a wide range of global issues, primarily in connection with employment law and employee relations matters. You will support the Human Capital Management, Talent Acquisition and Business Development teams in connection with the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of both infrastructure and investment personnel (including portfolio management teams). You will review, negotiate, prepare and interpret offer letters, confidentiality agreements, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, relocation and secondment agreements, recruitment agreements and third-party service contracts supporting Human Capital Management. In addition, you will provide day-to-day support to the business on a broad range of topics, including in connection with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, independent contractor issues and immigration matters. You will have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, including assisting with litigation matters, general corporate contract matters and family office matters. You will work alongside members of the legal team to advise Schonfeld’s leadership (including leaders within Human Capital Management, Talent Acquisition, Business Development, Accounting and Tax) and outside counsel and other advisers on significant legal matters.
What you’ll bring
What you need:
- D. from an accredited law school and admittance to a state bar
- 7+ years of experience working for a law firm and/or as in-house counsel (preferably with experience focused on employment law)
- Superior legal writing skills, preferably with experience drafting employment-related agreements and documentation
- An in-depth understanding of U.S. employment rules and regulations
- Superior analytical, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage external counsel located in the U.S., EMEA and APAC
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding, fast-paced and fluid environment, while maintaining superior attention to detail
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse team of legal and other professionals at all levels
- Experience advising and interacting with human capital management and recruitment personnel in an investment advisory firm setting would be welcomed but is not a strict prerequisite

Schonfeld is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with internal and partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies: quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. The base pay for this role is expected to be between $200,000 and $250,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role is eligible for other forms of compensation, including a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors, such as skills, qualifications and experience.
