  • UserEvidence said customers saw 312% ROI and four-month payback in May 2026.
  • The Food & Beverage workbench targets a category Gartner said still has 68% whitespace.

What critics are saying

  • Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle can bundle PLM into existing enterprise relationships by 2027.

Specright launches AI assistant and R&D workbench for food & beverage with 10x faster formula creation

Specright has launched four AI-powered platform advances for its Specification Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management systems. The company released R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, an AI Assistant, and two specialist agents focusing on data anomalies and packaging selection. The R&D Workbench enables teams to create and validate formulas, labels, and claims with built-in FDA, EU, Health Canada, and USDA compliance. Beta customers reported up to 10 times faster formula creation and 50% time savings on non-lab tasks. The Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent identifies missing or incorrect specification data before compliance issues arise. The Packaging Selection Agent ranks sourcing options by cost, performance, and sustainability. CEO Mike Boese said the release demonstrates practical Specification Intelligence, allowing product developers to work faster whilst maintaining compliance standards. The company plans to extend the R&D Workbench to personal care products next.

August 26, 2026 at 8:05 a.m. Specright's latest 2026 release deepens its AI investment with a new R&D Workbench, a smarter AI Assistant, and two new specialist agents. LOS ANGELES - Specright, the leader in AI-powered Specification Data Management(TM)(SDM) and modern Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), today announced the general availability of R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, AI Assistant, and two new specialist agents: Data Anomaly and Gaps and Packaging Selection. Specright just shipped its biggest AI release yet: a smarter AI Assistant, 2 new specialist agents, and R&D Workbench now GA. Intelligence starts with the spec. #AI #PLM #SpecificationManagement "This release brings the clearest proof yet of what Specification Intelligence means in practice," said Mike Boese, CEO of Specright. "An AI Assistant that plans and executes multi-step work, agents that catch problems before they become recalls or write-offs, and R&D Workbenches that let product developers move at the speed of AI without sacrificing compliance rigor. Gartner(R)'s recent research puts F&B PLM adoption at 32% today, with 134% growth projected by 2030 - that's the whitespace Specright is eager to capture." Now, generally available, R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, enables R&D and regulatory teams to create and validate formulas, labels, and claims with AI, all backed by built-in FDA, EU, Health Canada, and USDA compliance. Beta customers reported up to 10x faster formula creation and 50% time savings across non-lab tasks. The next vertical solutions will be R&D Workbench for Personal Care, extending the platform to cosmetics, skincare, and personal care formulation. The Specright AI Assistant adds usage alerts, more accurate write actions, and steadier responses, giving teams more control and fewer surprises. Two new specialists join the AI Assistant: the Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent, which proactively surfaces missing, incorrect, or suspicious specification data before it becomes a compliance or cost problem, and the Packaging Selection Agent, which ranks sourcing options by cost, performance, and sustainability. "Every agent we ship has to make a real decision easier without taking control away from the person who owns it," said Karthik Rajagopal, Chief Product Officer of Specright. About Specright Specright(TM) is the AI platform for intelligent Specification Data Management(TM), advanced packaging, and modern Product Lifecycle Management. Specright helps companies accelerate product development, improve compliance and sustainability, and reduce costs. Specright connects specifications across raw materials, formulas, packaging, products, and finished goods, enabling teams to manage the product lifecycle from concept through commercialization. Specright doubles down on AI, launching four major platform advances.

Specright doubles down on AI, launching four major platform advances. With the most recent product release of 2026, Specright deepens its AI investment with the first R&D Workbench, a smarter AI Assistant, and two new specialist agents. August 26, 2026 AI Food & Beverage Packaging Product Lifecycle Management Specification Management LOS ANGELES, Calif., August 25, 2026 - Specright, the leader in AI-powered Specification Data Management(TM)(SDM) and modern Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), today announced a sweeping wave of product innovation that deepens the company's investment in AI across its platform. The release includes the general availability of R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, enhancements to the Specright AI Assistant, and two new AI Assistant specialists: the Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent and the Packaging Selection Agent. Today's announcement builds on the AI-first vision unveiled at Spec Summit 2026 in New Orleans this past February, where the company introduced its evolution toward "Specification Intelligence," an AI-powered layer built on top of the industry's first purpose-built SDM platform. "We've been heads-down turning our AI-first vision into shipped products," said Mike Boese, CEO of Specright. "This release is the clearest proof yet of what Specification Intelligence means in practice: an AI Assistant that plans and executes multi-step work, agents that catch problems before they become recalls or write-offs, and R&D Workbenches that let product developers move at the speed of AI without sacrificing the compliance rigor their business depends on. We are not bolting AI features onto our platform - we are building AI into the spec-first foundation itself." R&D Workbench reaches a milestone: General Availability for Food & Beverage. Specright's R&D Workbench, the AI-native formulation, labeling, and claims solution the company previewed in early access at Spec Summit 2026, reaches General Availability for Food & Beverage teams. R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage enables R&D and regulatory teams to create or modify formulas using natural language prompts, re-create formulas from reference products, auto-generate compliant nutrition panels, validate nutrient content claims in real time, and optimize formulas through AI-led ingredient substitutions. All of this happens within a single, connected platform with built-in support for FDA, EU Regulation 1169/2011, Health Canada, USDA, and other global frameworks. Early customers reported meaningful gains across the formulation lifecycle: * Up to 10x faster formula creation * 50% time savings across non-lab tasks * Up to 90% reduction in label creation time using AI-powered label templates This launch coincides with the newly published Gartner(R)'s report, Market Overview for PLM Software in Food and Beverage Manufacturing (August 2026), which finds the category still has significant room to grow. Citing that only 32% of food and beverage manufacturers have adopted a PLM solution today, with adoption projected to grow 134% by 2030. The report also lists specification management as a mandatory capability for F&B PLM software: in its opinion the same principle Specright has built its platform around from the start*. The next vertical solution will be R&D Workbench for Personal Care. Like R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, it's built on the same spec-first architecture that allows finalized formulas to flow directly into Specright's PLM solution, providing one connected system from bench to manufacturing. AI Assistant: ask your spec data anything, get answers in seconds. Specright is also formally introducing the Specright AI Assistant, giving teams additional avenues for interacting with the Specright platform. Teams are now able to ask natural-language questions about ingredients, formulas, packaging, or finished goods and get an instant, traceable answer pulled straight from live records. For a quality manager who can update a spec's status and route it for approval without leaving the conversation, or a packaging engineer who can turn a sourcing recommendation into a new specification with a single request, the AI Assistant does more than answer questions, it gets the work done. Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent finds what's missing before it becomes a problem. The Specright AI Assistant is also the home for a growing set of specialist agents working proactively in the background. The Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent proactively finds what is missing, incorrect, or suspicious in specification data and routes users to the right next action. Because specification data drives every downstream decision, even small gaps or errors can cascade into compliance exposure, lost margin, and production disruption. This agent understands the PLM domain and customer configurations, including product hierarchies, business rules, and regulatory requirements, rather than performing generic validation. Packaging Selection Agent ranks sourcing options, not just search results. Specright also introduces the Packaging Selection Agent, an intelligent sourcing specialist built directly into the Specright AI Assistant. Rather than simply searching for materials, the agent ranks them, weighing competing priorities such as performance and sustainability to surface options that are more cost effective or more sustainable. It also validates availability by connecting internal SpecGraph data with external supplier catalogs and material databases. As the agent works, it streams its reasoning step by step with source attribution, so users can see exactly how each recommendation was reached. "Every agent we ship has to pass the same test: does it make a real decision easier without taking control away from the person who owns that decision," said Karthik Rajagopal, Chief Product Officer of Specright. "The Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent and the Packaging Selection Agent are built exactly that way - they do the heavy lifting of finding problems and ranking options, then handing the decision back to the packaging engineer, the quality manager, or the sourcing lead. That is the design principle behind everything in our AI Assistant: security, choice, and human control, by default, every time." A new AI tool helps brands automate EU packaging compliance declarations in minutes.

Specright automates compliance reporting ahead of the August deadline. A new AI tool helps brands automate EU packaging compliance declarations in minutes. Europe prepares for strict new packaging laws. The 12 August deadline for EU regulations looms large for global manufacturers. Furthermore, firms must soon prove their packaging meets tough sustainability standards. This requirement covers recyclability and substance restrictions. Consequently, many brands face a logistical nightmare. Most companies currently lack a central system for this data. Information often remains trapped in messy spreadsheets or supplier emails. Specright has now introduced an automated solution to ease this burden. The software uses artificial intelligence to gather information from suppliers. Therefore, it creates compliant reports in minutes rather than months. The tool tracks every item against specific legal articles. Danielle Goad of Specright suggests the firm wants to eliminate last-minute panics. She notes that regulatory hurdles should become a proactive strength for brands. Similarly, Karthik Rajagopal argues that firms must build compliance into daily operations. He believes direct access to data creates defensible audit trails. Finally, the new system officially arrives on 23 July. This launch gives brands time to prepare for the upcoming EU enforcement.
