KeyCorp shares fall 6.6% after Q2 results, OFG Bancorp rises 5.4%

KeyCorp reported second-quarter revenues of $1.96 billion, up 6.7% year-on-year, meeting analyst expectations. However, the regional bank missed net interest income estimates. The market reacted negatively, with shares falling 6.6% following the results to trade at $21.78. The 94 regional banks tracked reported mixed second-quarter results. As a group, revenues were in line with analyst consensus estimates. Regional bank stocks have declined on average 1.7% since their latest earnings announcements. OFG Bancorp emerged as the best performer, reporting revenues of $190.3 million, up 4.4% year-on-year and beating expectations by 3.9%. The Puerto Rico-focused bank beat both earnings per share and net interest income estimates. Its shares rose 5.4% post-results to $52.71. Regional banks face challenges from fintech competition, deposit outflows, and commercial real estate exposure.
