SMCI projects $65B–$72B revenue, lifting Dell and HPE shares in pre-market trading

Super Micro Computer projected fiscal 2027 revenue of $65–$72 billion, significantly exceeding the analyst consensus of $52.50 billion. The guidance sent SMCI shares up roughly 9% in pre-market trading Wednesday. Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise rose in sympathy, gaining 2.6% and 2.2% respectively, as investors view SMCI's results as a demand indicator for AI server hardware. SMCI's fourth-quarter gross margin reached 17.5%, surpassing its preliminary estimate of 15%–17%. Fourth-quarter revenue nearly doubled year-over-year to $11.12 billion, though it fell short of the $11.55 billion consensus. The company counted nine customers generating over $1 billion in annual revenue in fiscal 2026, up from four the previous year. Dell held an AI systems backlog of $51.3 billion, whilst HPE reported $16.4 billion. Big Tech capital spending is expected to surpass $730 billion in 2026.

Super Micro surges 9% on $72B revenue target and record $60B order backlog

Super Micro Computer jumped 9% in premarket trading after setting an ambitious fiscal 2027 revenue target of $65 billion to $72 billion. The AI server company reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $39.1 billion, up 78% year-on-year. Management disclosed receiving over $60 billion in new orders during the latest quarter. For the first quarter, Super Micro expects revenue between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion, with adjusted earnings of $1.01 to $1.10 per share. Fourth-quarter results were mixed. Revenue reached $11.1 billion, up 93% year-on-year, but missed expectations due to customer delays related to power, cooling and networking infrastructure. Adjusted gross margin improved significantly to 17.6% from 10.1% in the previous quarter.

Supermicro posts $1.70 EPS, issues $14.5B-$15.5B Q1 guidance as $60B order backlog fuels AI server demand

Super Micro Computer reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.70 on revenue of $11.1 billion, surpassing analyst estimates of $0.96 per share. The San Jose-based server maker's shares jumped 9% in after-hours trading on Tuesday. The company logged over $60 billion in new orders during the fiscal year and entered fiscal 2027 with a record backlog. Chief executive officer Charles Liang attributed the strong performance to accelerating demand for enterprise server architectures. Supermicro issued guidance for first-quarter revenue between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion, significantly exceeding Wall Street's estimates of $10.5 billion to $15.4 billion. The outlook reflects continued strong demand for AI infrastructure as tech companies expand data centre capacity for training complex AI models.

Supermicro stock jumps 10% on doubled margins and record AI backlog.

Supermicro stock jumps 10% on doubled margins and record AI backlog. Last updated: August 11, 2026 10:18 pm Supermicro stock (SMCI) jumped nearly 10% in after market trading on Tuesday. It follows Super Micro Computer posting a 17.5% quarterly gross margin, almost double last year, and a record order backlog. Less than two years ago, the AI server maker was fighting to keep its Nasdaq listing. Now it projects up to $72 billion in annual sales. Why Supermicro stock rallied on doubled margins. Supermicro reported results after Tuesday's close. Net sales reached $11.1 billion for the quarter ended June 30, nearly double the $5.8 billion a year earlier. Yet the margin move stole the show. Gross margin hit 17.5%, up from 9.9% just three months earlier. Net income climbed six-fold to $1.18 billion. Adjusted earnings, which exclude stock-based pay, hit $1.70 per share. That was two and a half times the 68-cent consensus tracked by Zacks. Revenue, meanwhile, landed at the low end of the company's own $11 billion to $12.5 billion target. Thin margins had long been Supermicro's weak spot. Big cloud customers squeezed prices, and rivals fought hard for every AI server deal. Tuesday's numbers also push back on fears that AI spending is slowing. "As demand accelerates, we are improving profitability through a richer enterprise customer mix and broader adoption of our optimized Data Center Building Block Solutions(R)(DCBBS) architecture," founder and CEO Charles Liang explained the improvement in the earnings statement. Record backlog sets up a $72 billion year. Supermicro expects $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion in September-quarter revenue, over 30% above the June quarter. Full fiscal 2027 sales should land between $65 billion and $72 billion. The top end sits 84% above fiscal 2026's $39.1 billion. Liang said the company booked over $60 billion in new orders and added several hundred enterprise customers in a year. A July preliminary update flagged the order surge and sent the stock up more than 20% in one day. The order wave matches heavy spending across AI hardware, where Nvidia's $500 billion deal has raised demand-quality questions. The rally extends one of the sharpest comebacks in AI hardware. Short seller Hindenburg Research accused the company of accounting manipulation in August 2024. Auditor Ernst & Young then resigned, and the shares lost roughly a third of their value in a day. Supermicro filed its delayed reports in February 2025 and kept its Nasdaq listing. That history still shadows the numbers. The results are preliminary and unaudited, and the board is reviewing certain transactions tied to export controls. Inventories nearly tripled to $12.9 billion, and operations consumed $6.8 billion in cash for the year. The rally now rests on one question. Can margins near 17% survive as that backlog turns into shipped systems? The September quarter will offer the first answer. US close: Stocks fall amid mixed Hormuz signals, rising crude prices. Share Search You are here: 11th Aug 2026 21:50 (Sharecast News) - Major indices closed lower on Tuesday as investors weighed signs of progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz against lingering doubts over whether Washington and Tehran can reach a broader settlement. At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.34% at 53,791.85, while the S&P 500 shed 0.32% to 7,728.20 and the Nasdaq Composite saw out the session 0.60% weaker at 26,445.45. The Dow closed 184.13 points lower on Tuesday, extending losses recorded in the previous session as optimism over a potential US-Iran agreement to re-open the Strait of Hormuz faded. Middle East news was in focus yet again on Tuesday after Iran said it was close to agreeing a deal with Oman to reopen the key waterway, but has continued to rule out direct talks with the US until several conditions have been met. Foreign minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated at the weekend that there was "no possibility of restarting negotiations" while the US continued to violate the pair's June memorandum of understanding and failed to compensate Iran for those breaches, according to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency. As a result, oil prices headed north on tuesday, with West Texas Intermediate futures up 1.52% at $83.38 a barrel, and international benchmark Brent crude 1.57% higher at $89.10 a barrel. However, market participants also viewed comments from Pakistani defense minister Khawaja Asif that "things are shaping up again in favour of a peace arrangement or a deal" as a positive sign. On the macro front, the National Federation of Independent Business' small business optimism index rose to 99.8 in July, its strongest reading since last August, up from 97.4 in June and ahead of expectations. Eight of the index's ten components improved, with hiring plans showing the biggest gain. Real sales expectations and reports of inventories being "too low" both slipped by two points. However, the uncertainty index increased two points to 91, remaining well above its long-run average of 68, driven by more owners expressing doubt over whether it is a good time to expand and uncertainty around capital-expenditure plans. Elsewhere, US existing-home sales dipped in July, with the National Association of Realtors reporting a 1.7% month-on-month decline, though activity was 0.7% higher than a year earlier at an annualised 4.06m units. Total inventory stood at 1.54m homes, down 1.9% from June and 0.6% from July 2025, leaving supply unchanged at 4.6 months, while the median existing-home price rose 2% year-on-year to $434,100, marking the 37th consecutive month of annual price gains. The housing affordability index improved to 103.3, up from 98.3 a year earlier, with affordability rising across all regions. In the corporate space, information technology outfit Super Micro Computer said quarterly net sales surged 95% to $11.1bn, with net income up 504% to $1.2bn and earnings per share jumping 422% to $1.62, while full-year sales climbed 78% to $39.1bn and earnings also posted strong double-digit growth. On another note, tax services giant H&R Block reported 4.9% higher FY26 revenue at $3.95bn, with net income from continuing operations up 20.8% to $736.3m and EPS rising 28.7% to $5.69, helped by a one-off tax benefit, while operating cash flow improved to $838.7m.
