Requirements
  • A master's degree in Costume Technology, Costume Design, Technical Theater, Performance Studies with a concentration in Drama, or a related field with 18 graduate hours in theatre or drama; workforce alternatives include a bachelor's degree in Theatre, Drama, or Performance Studies, or an associate degree in Theatre or Drama with three years of non-teaching work experience.
  • Three (3) years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
  • Work safely, follow safety rules, and report unsafe working conditions and behavior.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach introductory-level costume and makeup courses in Drama to a multicultural student population using varied instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and disciplinary standards.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination based on protected characteristics.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Use the college's learning management system appropriately.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, or other academic leadership.

  • Three (3) years of experience teaching in costume/makeup-related fields.
