Requirements
  • Hold New Jersey teacher certification.
  • Hold a master’s degree in a related field, and teaching experience (or extensive P-12 classroom and/or administration experience).
  • Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
  • Strong technology skills with Microsoft products or the Google suite of programs.
  • Ability to travel to educational settings to conduct observations.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and implement lesson planning and assessment aligned to New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers (NJPST) and Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium standards (InTASC).
  • All adjunct positions require teaching experience unless otherwise indicated; candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the support and development of students’ knowledge, skills and dispositions during clinical placements through supervising, observing, mentoring and providing formative and summative feedback to Kean clinical students on their classroom preparation performance, supported by research, theory, best practices and aligned to performance competencies.
  • Develop students' skills related to lesson planning, lesson delivery and assessment aligned to NJPST, InTASC, Kean’s College of Education Lesson Plan and performance-based assessment instructions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for P-12 cooperating teachers and their clinical students regarding communication, problem solving and conducting additional observations/site visits or completing additional evaluations as needed.
  • Monitor the completion of all assessments by cooperating teachers and interns throughout the semester.
  • Work in off-site P-12 districts, schools and other education settings with periodic required in-person meetings and events at the Union and Kean Ocean campuses.
  • Adhere to the university’s guidelines for Learning Management System proficiency and adjunct responsibilities, including availability outside of class for a minimum weekly amount.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates that hold certification (under a standard certificate) in the subject matter area of supervision.
  • Experience with NJ Professional Standards for Teachers (NJPST) and InTASC standards.
  • Familiarity with the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) and/or the Associate for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).
  • Strong technology skills with Microsoft products or the Google suite of programs.
