  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in a related field
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) approved instructor or within first six months of employment

  • A class "C" operator's driver's license is required; must provide a current three-year driving record; Texas resident requirements and CDL drug/alcohol testing information may apply
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate full day and multiple day training programs both on-site at university locations and off-site at client locations. Travel, using a university, personal, or rental vehicle to various intrastate and interstate locations.
  • Review and develop training curriculum, exercises, techniques, and materials for safety programs. Maintain accurate records of training activities. Keep abreast of new developments in Mine safety and health, and training and development.
  • Handle inquiries from clients concerning safety training and assist with creating MSHA approved training plans for clients. Verify training plans of clients prior to their training. Conduct training needs analysis.
  • Present at safety councils and conferences throughout the state of Texas while promoting HSTC. Attend and work closely with MSHA officials at Mine Rescue events.
  • Conduct compliance assistance visits and technical assistance to mine operators and associated industries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with six years of experience in a related field
  • More than the required years of experience training adults, in both the public and private sectors and experience in developing programs and writing training materials
  • Education or experience in OSHA training, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor or credentials in First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Fluent in Spanish language and writing skills
