  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a four-year college or university is required.
  • Five to ten years of experience in a related field is required.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing programs, critical path method scheduling programs such as Primavera Project Planner, project management software, and Microsoft Office software is required.
  • Understanding of and experience using cost and productivity data is required.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with the job team and owners is required.
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals is required.
  • The ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public is required.
  • The ability to work with mathematical concepts including plane and solid geometry and trigonometry is required.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities for civil industrial projects such as wastewater pump stations, water reclamation facilities, and large-scale utility projects.
  • Ensure project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.
  • Analyze and understand plans and specifications.
  • Follow administrative procedures outlined in the Project Administration Manual.
  • Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
  • Produce accurate schedules using critical path method scheduling programs as needed.
  • Supervise and coordinate the submittal process and working-drawing requirements.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental impact studies, and project designs.
  • Provide contract interpretation and clarification.
  • Maintain and update project schedules, including monthly schedules and weekly two-week look-ahead schedule reviews with the Project Superintendent and Assistant Project Superintendent.
  • Maintain, verify, and report cost and income quantities for work performed.
  • Review, approve, and submit progress billings.
  • Analyze, prepare, maintain, and monitor job costs and production budgets.
  • Work with the Superintendent to control job costs and the production budget.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely monthly cost, income, and cash-flow projections.
  • Execute and approve subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices.
  • Coordinate, price, and assist the Project Manager in settling change orders and claims.
  • Respond to issues quickly and proactively solve problems while handling multiple tasks.
  • Organize and efficiently maintain office, filing, and project correspondence systems.
  • Maintain subcontractor insurance certificate compliance.
  • Maintain project compliance with underground utility notifications and locations, including Miss Utility and other services.
  • Promote and participate in two-week and long-range planning with the job team and include the job team in planning.
  • Work with subcontractors and suppliers professionally and respectfully.
  • Apply and enforce the company Safety Policy at all times.
