Identify, implement, and validate cost reduced designs and/or manufacturing methods for X-ray tubes in the CT, Mammo, Radiographic and Diagnostic modalities. Validation requires statistical analysis of identified performance criteria. Validation work can range from simple dimensional check and material confirmation to life testing to confirm performance. Document drawings, procedures, routers, etc. for cost reduction items. Confirm that FDA and UL regulations are met during the process. Plan and manage projects to completion. 3D modeling software, statistical analysis software, Validation tools, dimensional measuring equipment, X-ray tube power equipment, and ASTM test methods will be used to complete these assignments. Initiate Engineering Change Orders to establish local components. Goal is to reduce cost.
Your Role...
Use full set of engineering disciplines and processes to develop, procure, build, test, and qualify components from new suppliers
Document validation report and get approval from the business to meet regulatory requirements and prevent quality issues
Work well as a team with procurement, production, and quality to validate components from new suppliers to improve the profitability of the business
Report out the progress of many different projects to the executive leadership team
Troubleshoot and understand the root cause and potential solutions to issues with the components and/or the vendors
Your Profile...
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
5+ years of related experience
Strong overall general engineering skills and understanding of applied physics (we use all the mechanical and electrical disciplines, metallurgy, materials, manufacturing processes, electron beam design, and chemical cleaning and surface preparation processes)
Experience using ANSYS, Solidworks, and other CAE tools a plus
Experienced in critically determining validation test methods/criteria/protocols
Experience communicating with vendors as part of the efforts to perform cost reduction
Strong experience with manufacturing and assembly processes and methods along with experience developing electro-mechanical components and sub-systems is preferred
Experience designing or manufacturing X-ray tubes or systems
Has familiarity with laboratory measurement equipment
Ability to perform statistical analyses to justify conclusions
Demonstrated success in driving products to market
Highly motivated and self-driven
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Environment and Physical Demands
Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.
Light work that will occasionally require employee to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 75 lbs. to greater than 80 lbs.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or supplies occasionally.

Above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools occasionally.

Work environments includes exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, uneven surface, fumes.
Travel to other sites as per requirement.
