3 years of professional experience in software development or related fields and BS in computer science or related field
Comfortable in Linux development environments
Strong knowledge of Python, proficiency in C++, and experience in large code bases
Expertise in continuous integration systems (Github/Gitlab CI, Jenkins, etc)
Track record of test & data workflow automation using Spark, Cinder, PipeDream, or similar
Savvy with efficient SQL queries and data platforms such as DataBricks, Looker, and ETL pipelines
Good communication and organizational skills, with a logical approach to problem-solving, good time management, and task prioritization skills

Responsibilities

Automate common workflows & processes for performance data storage and analysis
Build automated instrumentation for performance tooling (CPU, GPU, latency, memory) and frameworks to support offline evaluation of vehicle performance data
Build tools and scripts to evaluate and analyze performance at scale in CI
Help create custom data queries on a large pool of dense performance metrics and build automation flows to extract relevant log segments for efficient triage & investigation
Work cross-functionally to ensure Performance tooling is integrated with Zoox's continuous integration and release management processes

Zoox is building advanced self-driving hardware and software solutions. To attain the utmost efficiency that the system demands, we need you - an expert who understands both compute hardware architecture as well as the algorithms and middleware that run on it. Your contributions will be instrumental in finding & detecting performance-related trends and anomalies across the robot fleet.

The Software Core Performance team’s mission is to analyze, optimize, and provide guidance to the software and hardware teams to meet expected system performance targets.

As an automation engineer within the Software Core Performance team, you will create automated monitoring and analysis for performance tooling into the software release process to identify fleet-wide trends or anomalies and put detailed performance data at the fingertips of performance experts for quick and efficient investigations.

Responsibilities

You will work cross-functionally to ensure Performance tooling is integrated with Zoox’s continuous integration and release management processes.

Qualifications

3 years of professional experience in software development or related fields and BS in computer science or related field
Comfortable in Linux development environments

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency with Git and Bazel
Experience using various Linux performance monitor tools, such as perf, eBPF, Perfetto
Experience with software & hardware benchmarking and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $143,000 to $226,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
