  • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers eligibility guidelines.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Maintains a current Basic Life Support/HealthCare Provider certificate.
  • Maintains an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers physics registry and one American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers registry.
  • Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers within twelve months of hire.
  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and demonstrated competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to the department.
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations.
  • Exercise professional judgment while performing services and maintain a demeanor complementary to quality care.
  • Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Assess patients’ physical conditions and age-specific needs.
  • Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Perform proper patient identification, acquire patients’ clinical histories, and ensure that information is accurately documented.
  • Position patients, equipment, and associated devices, and manipulate technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relevant anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehend and comply with quality-control standards and participate in all quality-control tasks.
  • Administer medical aid as required during emergency situations.
  • Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assist in supervising student sonographers and training new sonographers.
  • Use all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensure the safety of all customers.
  • Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
