And, we need a talented Engineering Team Lead to join our mission.

Team you’ll be working in: Get Paid

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the world’s first platform to offer true multi-currency banking. 

Wise already helps hundreds of thousands of businesses and people receive money around the world by offering them access to international banking details that let them get paid like a local. However, there is much more to be done.

Your mission is to enable customers to receive payments using any payment method and by any currency and build the most convenient, transparent and trustworthy option to get paid internationally. You will enable Wise to expand from offering payer’s the ability to pay via bank transfer to being offered whatever method is most convenient for them. While doing so, you will build scalable and well designed software for future extension with a healthy, and effective team.

Get Paid works in one of the fastest areas of growth for our company, making this Engineering Lead a key role for our business. The team is distributed, with most of its engineers based in London and Tallinn.

Your role in the team:

• You’ll be responsible for the overall health and productivity of the engineers within your team
• You’ll provide feedback on architecture and approach and help teams make data-driven decisions 
• You’ll have an overview of what’s happening across the organisation and thinking about engineering as a whole 
• When needed, you’ll roll your sleeves up to be involved in the entire process

Is that you?

• Experience leading, coaching and mentoring driven and high performing teams
• A passion for international finance, foreign exchange and payment systems 
• Comfortable working on big challenges and taking full ownership of the customer journey
• Experience building and designing scalable and performing systems
• Experience working with Java, Spring framework, asynchronous message queues and have worked with microservices architecture 
• Experience in designing, deploying and maintaining clean RESTful APIs
• Comfortable with SQL databases, optimisation and transaction

…but don’t worry we don’t expect you to know everything!
