Requirements
  • Maintain current registration with the state.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.

  • Lift or carry weights of up to 75 pounds and lift and support residents using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices.
  • Be free of diseases that can be transmitted while performing job responsibilities during the stage of communicability.
Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and treatments to residents in a timely manner according to physician orders.
  • Reorder medication as needed to ensure medications are available when needed.
  • Give report to the medication aide relieving the employee.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Transcribe physician orders to Medication Administration Records and fax them to the community pharmacy according to Medication Administration Procedures.
  • Record vital signs on Medication Administration Records.
  • Keep supplies stocked on medication carts.
  • Contact residents’ physicians to report appointment or medication needs, behavioral changes, and health concerns.
  • Follow the medication administration plan according to community policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with the community pharmacy regarding supply needs.
  • Become the designated person in charge when the administrator is not on site.
  • Attend required in-services and training sessions, including Relias modules.
  • Report staff or resident issues and concerns to the Administrator and/or RCC/RCD.
  • Perform tasks and job requirements listed in the Registered Medication Aide and Direct Care Aide job descriptions.
  • Assist with compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Interact appropriately with residents, family members, and other guests.
  • Assist other departments with duties assigned by the Administrator/RCC/RCD.
  • Communicate each resident’s needs and preferences to caregivers as they become apparent or change over time.
  • Respond to resident emergencies and act accordingly.
  • Communicate resident concerns and issues to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
  • Practice safety when working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils.
  • Contribute to resident satisfaction by meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Maintain efficient and appropriate communication with residents, family members, guests, and coworkers.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts through appropriate interaction with prospective residents and guests.
