Millennium Galvanizing in Convent, La. is looking for a Quality Technician to join our team.
The Quality Technician serves as an internal quality assurance inspector for Millennium Galvanizing. This position’s primary focus is to check the quality of the galvanizing process after steel products have been galvanized and ensure product is ready to be prepared for transport/shipping. The Quality Technician inspects steel after cooling for coating thickness, coating appearance, uniformity, and adherence and confers with quality assurance team. This position must be knowledgeable of the galvanizing process and work in accordance to both safety and standard operating procedures; must be capable of performing quality inspection and other manufacturing inspection requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enter quality Incident/Non Conformance data reports into the incident tracking database.
- Updates quality documents as directed by Shipping Manager.
- Inspects, tests, or measures materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
- Has authority and responsibility to hold production on a product or to stop a process due to quality concerns.
- Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, etc.
- Reads blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
- Records inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected or graded.
- Marks items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
- Notifies supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
- Discards or rejects products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
- Collects or selects samples for testing or for use as models.
- Writes tests or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
- Compares colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
REQUIREMENTS FOR QUALITY TECHNICIAN:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to interpret blueprints required.
- Ability to read a tape measure required.
- Previous fitting and / or welding experience required.
- Regular, reliable attendance is required.
- Quality inspection experience, including the following, is preferred:
- Welding inspection
- Fit-up inspection
- Tolerance inspection
- Galvanizing industry and manufacturing experience
- Other manufacturing inspection processes
