The online accounts are not a requirement, so you can still e-file a return without creating such an account.The biggest selling point: By creating an online account, you can avoid the need to call the IRS for all sorts of questions. This funding will support ID.me's growth as it expands its digital identity wallet, which now has over 139 million users, with 65 million verified to federal standards. ID.me's revenue has grown over 450% from 2020 to 2024. The company is the only digital wallet meeting federal standards for secure login and multi-factor authentication.
