Aerzen acquires GPE Turbo to expand turbo portfolio up to 300 bar pressure range

Aerzen, a leading manufacturer of blowers, compressors and turbos, has acquired GPE Turbo to strengthen its position in the process gas industry. The deal significantly expands Aerzen's turbo portfolio in the upper pressure and volume flow range. GPE Turbo, based in Leipzig, specialises in single and multi-stage turbo solutions for process gas applications, with expertise in customised solutions and green technologies including hydrogen applications. The company operates its own R&D centre and manufacturing facilities. The acquisition extends Aerzen's product portfolio to include turbo compressors with pressure ranges up to 300 bar and volume flows up to 300,000 m³/h. These serve industries including oil and gas, steel production, power plant technology and chemical engineering. Founded in 1864, Aerzen combines the deal with its global service and sales network.

On the path to success with compressed air technologies. AERZEN is charting new courses.

On the path to success with compressed air technologies. AERZEN is charting new courses. AERZEN, one of the world's leading manufacturers of machines for conveying and compressing gases, is opening a new chapter in its more than 160-year company history: The pioneer in compressor technology is entering the business field of industrial compressed air applications above 3.5 bar for the first time with the acquisition of ACI - Air Center International GmbH. The takeover was completed on April 29, 2025, making ACI a 100% subsidiary of Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH. Thus, AERZEN now offers for the first time a complete product portfolio of oil-free as well as oil- and water-injected compressors. Already at the Hannover Messe 2025, it became clear how much dynamism is behind this decision: There, AERZEN presented new compressed air compressors in the pressure range of 4 to 13 bar for the first time. Previously, the Lower Saxony-based family-owned company with over 50 subsidiaries worldwide was primarily established in the low-pressure range up to 3.5 bar, especially for applications such as wastewater treatment and pneumatic transport of bulk materials, powders, or foodstuffs. However, many industries require higher pressures: In dairies, cement plants, or chemical facilities, oil-free and oil-injected compressed air is standard. Until now, AERZEN could not meet this demand. This changes immediately. ACI brings the necessary know-how for this. The company, founded in 2008, has a broad portfolio: from oil-free and oil-injected screw compressors in single or multi-stage configurations to scroll and piston compressors, as well as accessory solutions for air conditioning such as dryers or heat exchangers. The applications range from firefighting technology to the railway industry, mining, shipbuilding, agriculture, medical technology, and stationary industrial plants. The multi-stage oil-free compressors are considered particularly energy-efficient. The three-stage units are even unique in the market so far. With more than 1,000 customers in 78 countries and a strong partner network, ACI has international experience. Within the AERZEN Group, the company is organizationally assigned to the Compressed Air Technology product line at the Oberhausen site and remains under the leadership of ACI Managing Director Miroslaw Gruschka. The team on-site is currently being significantly expanded. In parallel, AERZEN is expanding its global sales organization and plans to hire more than 50 sales experts worldwide in the field of compressed air technology. The kick-off has already started in the EMEA region, with APAC and then the AMERICAS to follow from early 2026. With the integration of ACI, AERZEN will now cover compressed air applications from 2.5 to 40 bar, with a focus on 4 to 13 bar, and significantly strengthen its market position. 'With this step, we are creating the technological basis to offer our customers all relevant industrial compressed air technology solutions from a single source in the future. This expands our business field and closes important gaps in the product portfolio. At the same time, we are further building our company's expertise, strengthening our presence in key industrial markets, and underscoring our performance promise: Expect Performance!', explains Klaus-Peter Glöckner, Managing Director of AERZEN. Worldwide, industrial plants are supplied with gaseous media using AERZEN blowers and compressors. Innovative AERZEN machine technology incorporates experience from 160 years of company history. The AERZEN product portfolio includes rotary lobe compressors, rotary lobe blowers, turbo blowers, and screw compressors, offering not only standard products but also custom-tailored special solutions. Through digital services, efficiency, availability, and productivity can be sustainably and forward-looking enhanced. Additionally, AERZEN After Sales Service offers the full range of service offerings - from full maintenance contracts to repairs and modernizations of existing plants.
