Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or eligible for Maryland RN licensure
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of acute care nursing experience, preferably in a tertiary or academic medical center
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in Infection Prevention, Infection Control, Epidemiology, or Quality/Safety functions
  • Knowledge of healthcare‑associated infections (HAIs), standard and transmission‑based precautions, aseptic technique, and isolation practices
  • Ability to interpret and apply evidence‑based guidelines (CDC, NHSN, APIC, SHEA) to clinical nursing practice
  • Experience conducting clinical surveillance, chart review, and data documentation related to infection prevention activities
  • Skilled in educating frontline staff using adult learning principles and providing real‑time clinical guidance
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with nursing staff, physicians, environmental services, and interdisciplinary teams
Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention program at The Johns Hopkins Hospital as part of the Infection Control Epidemiologist II role
  • Lead infection prevention activities within assigned clinical and non‑clinical areas to ensure evidence‑based practices are integrated into patient care to protect patients, visitors, and staff
  • Conduct surveillance for healthcare‑associated infections and assess infection risks
  • Manage outbreaks and exposures and provide frontline and leadership education using adult learning principles
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive performance improvement initiatives and translate epidemiologic data into actionable practice changes
  • Support regulatory and accreditation compliance
  • Report to HEIC leadership and advance program goals and promote a culture of safety and infection prevention excellence across the organization
