Requirements
  • Possess or pass the requirements to become a licensed Property and Casualty insurance producer.
  • Have thorough technical knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance, including insurance forms and risk alternatives.
  • Perform duties independently with little or no supervision and make decisions within agency constraints and insurance laws.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have an Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Insurance experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Determine customers’ needs and financial exposures through fact-finding appointments, coverage reviews, document analysis, and risk evaluation.
  • Develop coordinated insurance and risk-management plans, calculate and quote rates, and implement immediate coverage actions.
  • Identify and develop insurance prospects and appropriate markets.
  • Market, service, and promote agency products and services while developing and retaining customers strategically.
  • Service and manage existing customers by analyzing needs, answering coverage questions, evaluating products, and identifying concerns, competition, exposure changes, and additional coverage needs.
  • Assist policyholders with renewals, educate them on policy and product features, and remarket accounts as necessary.
  • Maintain strong marketplace knowledge and working relationships with company representatives and underwriters.
  • Investigate risk-placement alternatives when coverage is unavailable in the admitted market.
  • Prepare submissions and negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with selected carriers.
  • Review quotations and recommend the best options for price, coverage, and risk alternatives.
  • Manage quotes and proposals and bind coverage with insurance carriers within agency authority.
  • Meet established revenue standards and quotas.
  • Collaborate with agency personnel and the supervisor to provide feedback on customer and market conditions.
  • Handle customer telephone calls and personal visits concerning risks, coverage, claims, new business, remarketing, and additional coverage lines.
  • Ensure renewals and requested changes, endorsements, and audits are properly implemented and comply with company requirements.
  • Complete other assigned duties.
  • Exchange information with customers and carriers, solve problems, quote coverage, and negotiate terms.
  • Collect information about changes to customer characteristics and analyze continued exposure and risk tolerance.
  • Review coverage options and risk-management and prevention strategies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior insurance experience is a plus.
