Requirements
  • Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
  • New graduates who are licensed are accepted.
  • Current certification, within the past 12 months, in First Aid and CPR.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
Responsibilities
  • Provide community visits to assess the abilities and needs of children.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate function.
  • Provide pediatric in-home or school services for children with medical or health concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team consisting of healthcare workers and other community resources.
  • Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement issues.
  • Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect a client-centered approach related to the physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environment.
  • Apply evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
  • Engage clients collaboratively by building rapport and trust and achieving mutual understanding and agreement regarding services.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective service in all areas of practice, keeping current with changes that affect scope of practice.
  • Maintain professional client records for encounters and plans in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory or occupational therapy college standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Authorization from the Assistive Devices Program is considered an asset.
  • Pediatrics experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
