Clarios selects St. Joseph as part of its $6 billion investment plan. Clarios, a local manufacturer and global leader in advanced low-voltage battery technologies, is advancing a $6 billion investment strategy in the United States to modernize its facilities and expand its production capacity. As part of that effort, Clarios will invest up to $400 million and create up to 123 full-time jobs in St. Joseph, contingent on the project securing all necessary permits in a timely manner. "This is a major win for St. Joseph and our hardworking residents," said Natalie Hawn, President and CEO of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce. "The addition of up to 123 new jobs through Clarios means more opportunities for families, stronger economic stability, and continued momentum for our region. St. Joseph was competing with at least two other Clarios facilities in the United States for this tremendous investment. I'm very thankful for the Clarios leadership team's belief in the St. Joseph location and community and grateful for the support of our many partners who helped make this happen here." The expansion investment in St. Joseph will play a large role in meeting a projected increase in North American battery demand by allowing Clarios to expand its absorbent glass mat (AGM) battery production capacity. The U.S. manufacturing push will also mitigate tariff exposure and logistics, allowing for improved customer service by increasing onshore manufacturing capacity. "We're proud of our investments in St. Joseph and what it means to our workers and this community, and for the future we're building together," said Marc Andraca, President, Clarios US-Canada Region. "We appreciate the leaders in St. Joseph and the State of Missouri for working with us to bring more jobs to the area. This is exactly the kind of collaboration that fuels growth for decades to come and we look forward to continuing this strong partnership." "This is a huge win for St. Joseph. The Clarios expansion, bringing over 100 jobs and more than $300 million in investment, shows what we have always known: Our workforce is strong because of the great people behind it, our infrastructure is ready and our future is bright," St. Joseph Mayor Larry Miller said. "As a former employee of the company, I am especially proud to see this continued commitment to our community." "Clarios' continued investment in St. Joseph is a prime example of what's possible when a company chooses to grow where it's already planted roots," said Governor Mike Kehoe. "This expansion reinforces Missouri's critical role in the future of automotive innovation and ensures nearly 1,100 Missourians can continue building their careers right here at home." The St. Joseph Chamber and Economic Development Partnership coordinated this project with the resources and support of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Buchanan County, City of St. Joseph, Evergy and St. Joseph School District. The City of St. Joseph and Evergy provided incentives to make the investment possible. "This project represents meaningful progress for Buchanan County and the families who live and work here," said Scott Nelson, Buchanan County Presiding Commissioner. "I'm proud to welcome this investment and the lasting impact it will bring for generations to come." "Evergy is proud to support Clarios as they expand their footprint across two facilities in St. Joseph," said Carrie Koelzer, Evergy Customer Solutions Manager. "By providing targeted incentives and working closely with our Economic Development team, we were able to help foster a competitive environment that keeps this important investment right here in our community. We value our partnership with Clarios and look forward to their continued success in St. Joseph."
The European Commission has approved Clarios's acquisition of three Ecobat lead recycling plants in Germany and Austria without conditions. The sites are located in Braubach, Freiberg and Arnoldstein. Clarios, a major producer of lead-acid batteries for the automotive sector, already operates recycling facilities in Germany and Spain. The acquisition strengthens its vertical integration by adding capacity to process spent batteries and produce secondary lead and alloys. Brussels examined the transaction's impact across the value chain, including scrap battery supply, secondary lead production and tolling services. The investigation found that competitors retain access to sufficient recycled lead volumes through alternative smelters, and independent recyclers maintain adequate outlets. The Commission concluded Clarios has no incentive to reduce scrap battery purchases.

Clarios introduces battery-as-a-service program at TMC. Battery Manager Pro uses health data and predictive alerts to cut downtime and costs. Managing Editor, Features and Multimedia March 19, 2026 1:00 PM, EDT Battery Manager Pro provides continuous battery health monitoring, predictive replacement planning and automatic delivery of replacement batteries when needed. (Clarios) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Battery manufacturer Clarios has introduced a battery-as-a-service program to optimize battery replacement and reduce costs for fleet operators. The new subscription-based service, named Battery Manager Pro, provides continuous battery health monitoring, predictive replacement planning and automatic delivery of replacement batteries when needed. Clarios announced the new service at the Technology & Maintenance Council's 2026 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition. Battery Manager Pro enables a more data-driven approach to battery management than the typical buy and replace model, in which fleets sometimes replace batteries earlier than necessary or wait too long and experience a battery failure. For a fixed monthly fee, this fully managed service smooths out fluctuations in battery-related expenses while helping fleets prevent vehicle downtime. Clarios notifies fleets in advance so they can schedule battery replacements during the vehicle's next preventive maintenance. "Battery Manager Pro enables fleets to focus on their core operations while we take care of managing the batteries," said Cagatay Topcu, vice president of Connected Services at Clarios. "Our predictive approach ensures batteries are replaced only when needed, helping fleets reduce unexpected failures and total costs of ownership by maximizing their battery investment." Battery Manager Pro is the latest addition to Clarios' Connected Services portfolio. Other services include IdleLess, which delivers battery-related insights that enable fleets to eliminate unnecessary engine idling time and conserve fuel. Clarios also offers Battery Manager and Trailer Battery Manager, which provide real-time insights into battery health and charge status.
