Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience playing soccer at the high school or collegiate level, or demonstrated knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and skill development, is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with high school-aged student-athletes and support their athletic, academic, and personal growth is required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with athletic staff, school administrators, parents or guardians, and students, are required.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends as required, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and lead daily practices focused on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparation for competition.
  • Coach and supervise student-athletes during scheduled games, tournaments, and school-approved events, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the coaching staff to support player development, program alignment, and smooth progression within the volleyball program.
  • Uphold and enforce school, league, and athletic department policies, including conduct, attendance, and eligibility expectations.
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes by promoting academic responsibility, respectful behavior, and good sportsmanship.
  • Assist with equipment management, gym setup and breakdown, and maintaining a safe and organized practice and competition environment.
  • Solicit and welcome collaboration and feedback from colleagues, students, families, and the surrounding community.
  • Use an understanding of historical and structural racism in decision-making.
  • Take action to demonstrate personal reflection and growth and respond to feedback and lessons learned.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, support others in doing their best work, problem-solve, and seek feedback for professional growth and improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • College coursework or a degree is preferred.
  • Prior coaching experience in a public or charter school setting at the youth, club, middle school, or high school level is preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification before the season starts, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention, basic athletic training principles, and return-to-play protocols is preferred.
  • Familiarity with school athletic department policies, league regulations, and eligibility requirements is preferred.
  • Experience supporting player development pathways and collaborating with Varsity coaching staff is preferred.
  • Advanced-level proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, or another language commonly spoken by students and families is preferred.
  • Being a first-generation college graduate or having grown up low-income is preferred.
