Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for Therapeutic Assistant I.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Services or a closely related field, or a high school diploma and one year of experience in behavioral health or related healthcare, is required for Therapeutic Assistant II.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support is required within two weeks of hire and must be maintained through an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Certification in TACT and First Aid is required within the first six months of employment and must be maintained annually for TACT and biannually for Basic Life Support and First Aid.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical job functions, including standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, fine and gross motor movements, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, hearing acuity, and tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to work indoors, outdoors in temperature extremes, and in a latex-safe environment.
  • Ability to qualify physically for respirator use where required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and according to the multidisciplinary treatment plan and daily assignment sheet.
  • Assist with patient admission and discharge processes.
  • Monitor and promote the safety of the therapeutic environment.
  • Ensure that patients' activities of daily living are maintained.
  • Support the therapeutic program.
