Responsibilities

Provide counsel to DNC departments on a variety of legal issues
Provide legal support and advice on campaign finance laws and regulations, including, but not limited to FEC compliance and report filing, permissible expenditures, and fundraising (e.g., contribution limits, use of joint fundraising committees)
Negotiate, review, draft and provide advice on a broad range of contracts and agreements on behalf of the DNC
Conduct legal analysis, provide strategic advice, and ensure that all interests of the organization are appropriately represented
Manage, supervise and advise outside counsel on litigation matters
Assist with party governance matters
Draft thoughtful, organized and clear documents, including, but not limited to analysis/advice memoranda, training materials and presentations
Provide counsel on labor relations and collective bargaining issues
Manage operational legal matters of the DNC
Performs other duties as assigned

The DNC is seeking a highly motivated and resourceful In-House Counsel to provide key support for the Democratic Party’s legal operation. In-House Counsel will provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice on a variety of legal topics that relate to a political organization and electoral activity. This role will manage the organization’s operational legal affairs and duties include negotiating contracts, providing expert advice and counsel regarding various legal, and regulatory aspects of the DNC’s work.

This is a full-time position based in DC and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement and will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

The salary for the In-House Counsel position is $175,000 - $195,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for overtime wages, and is based at the DNC HQ in Washington, D.C.

This position requires up to 15% travel both in the Washington, D.C. area and across the country to attend and support meetings and events.
