Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working in occupational safety or employee accident prevention is required.
  • An active Secret Security clearance is highly preferred, or the candidate must be willing to complete the process to obtain one.
  • Experience in manufacturing and assembly industries or heavy industry settings is a plus.
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry is a further plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of occupational safety technical subject matter and its application in real-life settings is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge is required in shop floor hazard identification surveys, job safety analysis, job hazard analysis, employee injury data analysis, machine guarding, slip, trip, and fall prevention, falls from elevation, lockout/tagout, energized electrical equipment safety, confined space entry, personal protective equipment, safety committees, safety meetings and training, powered industrial truck safety, contractor safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Creativity and self-starter initiative are required to manage routine work and negotiate with numerous customer stakeholders.
  • The ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals from the customer's work statement is required.
  • The ability to ensure compliance with Environment, Health & Safety regulations and stay current with changes to laws and regulations is required.
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to multitask, safety awareness, and an understanding of safe work practices are required.
  • Experience with data management and report preparation is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is required.
Responsibilities
  • Execute occupational safety projects from start to finish at client sites.
  • Conduct workplace and shop floor employee injury exposure assessments.
  • Evaluate safety program management effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct shop floor observations to identify, assess, and risk-rank employee injury exposures.
  • Devise solution options to mitigate employee injury exposures.
  • Provide clients with hands-on assistance implementing selected solutions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and durability of implemented solutions.
  • Track and analyze clients' employee injury experience to identify trends, common themes, and high-leverage accident prevention activities.
  • Coordinate and execute industrial safety projects with Apex project managers in accordance with organizational procedures and standards.
  • Design, implement, and execute agreed service plans in collaboration with external customers.
  • Monitor and report progress on service-plan completion as directed.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives and velocity.
  • Advise customers on occupational safety issues.
  • Provide input on potential new Environment, Health & Safety projects to project managers, client relationship managers, and business development staff.
  • Participate in business development activities as directed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree, ideally in a science or engineering field.
  • Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional accreditation.
  • General knowledge of ergonomics and industrial hygiene.
