Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years of experience.
  • A registered Professional Engineer license with an active NCEES account and the ability to obtain registration in additional states as required.
  • A Department of Defense security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Understanding of computer-aided design programs, including Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
  • The ability to complete requests for subcontractor and vendor quotes, develop written scopes of work for bid packages, obtain and evaluate quotes, and manage subcontractors and vendors.
  • The ability to respond to client requests for proposals with written technical approaches and market-competitive pricing for engineering, design, construction services, and technical support during warranty periods.
  • The ability to complete arc flash studies using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent software and develop language for arc flash panel labels using arc flash studies or code tables.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health and safety practices and design-for-safety approaches.
  • The ability to complete and maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour annual refresher training.
  • Effective organizational skills for maintaining deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering and construction cost estimates.
  • The ability to work effectively with project teams and direct Engineering Assistants on design and investigative tasks.
  • The ability to analyze, interpret, and present data.
  • The ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A valid driver's license and passport, with the ability to travel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate project execution and control from project start through construction completion and the warranty period to meet scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality goals.
  • Lead the planning and development of engineering tasks for assigned proposals and projects.
  • Complete engineering designs, technical research, construction drawings, specifications, Basis of Design documents, Design Quality Control Plans, calculations, reports, and quality control reviews.
  • Coordinate, complete, and communicate project design scope, schedule, budget, quality, and status internally and externally with clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
  • Assure the efficient and expeditious completion of projects to the client's satisfaction.
  • Assist the Project Manager in estimating and tracking project deliverables, costs, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for design teams on assigned projects or technical support personnel during field investigations.
  • Make design decisions for assigned projects and check the work of professional and technical staff.
  • Prepare designs and prepare or check calculations.
  • Select equipment and materials for projects and approve manufacturers' shop drawings for specified items.
  • Consult and advise clients on methods, equipment, and other project-related matters.
  • Monitor and evaluate contractor performance through field investigations or review of field data and report progress to the client.
  • Maintain and expand technical capabilities and knowledge of applicable design projects and technologies.
  • Assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Use standard company tools to evaluate profitability and track project budgets, schedules, safety, and quality.
  • Lead the development of design and construction projects, develop project sequences, identify staffing requirements, mentor and train junior staff, and serve as the lead project engineer.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, including utility interconnections, substations, switchgear, protective relaying, underground distribution, and power system studies using SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Knowledge of or experience with EVSE, microgrids, solar energy facilities, backup generators, backup battery systems, or data centers.
  • Understanding of 3D modeling in CAD.
  • Understanding of Bentley MicroStation and Esri ArcMap.
  • Current OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour construction safety certification.
  • Active membership in a professional organization suited to the specific practice area, such as SAME or IEEE.
  • Experience using UFC, UFGS, SpecsIntact, and RMS for design and construction projects.
  • USACE Quality Management for Construction Projects CQC certification and experience working as a design quality control manager and field quality control manager.
