- Six (6) years of full-time related experience preferred; of which three (3) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; Or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- Review all elements of project design and/or changes to the design pertaining to signals capital modernization projects requested by MTA Capital Construction and Development.
- Conduct field visits to confirm specs and designs are being followed as written.
- Plan, direct and coordinate the operation and oversight of a Signals unit including round-the-clock inspection, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and testing of rapid transit signal train control systems to ensure safe and reliable rapid transit operations.
- Supervise the material acquisition and distribution function for a signal unit, as well as on-site management of emergency response by Signals maintenance and repair personnel.
- Responsible for material forecasting, acquisition, distribution and fabrication of Signal components, as well as assisting senior management in strategic planning, policy and productivity review.
- Develop new initiatives for maintenance practices, capital construction projects, engineering projects and new technology initiatives.
- Plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of projects, in coordination with other departments and external contractors.
- Manage changes to project scope, project schedules and project costs.
- Measure project performance using information technology applications, systems and established processes.
- Communicate project scope, schedule, and budget with upper managers and contractors.
- Knowledge of rapid transit signal train control systems or railroad operations, rapid transit equipment testing, inspection, repair, reconstruction, installation and rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of project management, risk management, and reliability improvement.
- Knowledge of information technology applications, systems and processes.
- Baccalaureate Degree preferred, but not required; Public Administration, Electrical Engineering or a satisfactory equivalent
