Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
  • Approximately five to eight years of engineering experience is preferred.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire is required.
  • An active NCEES Record and the ability to gain additional state licenses through reciprocity are required.
  • Proficiency in finite element geotechnical modeling software is required.
  • The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able and willing to obtain security clearance for work on Department of Defense sites.
  • The candidate must maintain a valid driver's license and be able to travel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software is required.
  • The candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds and traverse uneven terrain.
  • The candidate must be able to lead field teams to collect environmental samples and support engineering during construction.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and provide design services for engineering projects involving clean construction and environmental remediation.
  • Lead geotechnical planning, investigation, analysis, and design for remediation systems, earthworks, foundations, and temporary works.
  • Execute projects within technical expertise while building teams of internal technical staff and sub-consultants.
  • Deliver work within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining safety, quality, and risk-management processes.
  • Plan and manage subsurface investigations, including scopes, drilling oversight, and health and safety integration for impacted media.
  • Prepare boring logs and synthesize field and laboratory data into Geotechnical Data Report and Geotechnical Engineering Report deliverables.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, embankments, retaining structures, slope stability, and seepage.
  • Translate analysis results into drawing and specification packages and construction criteria.
  • Develop designs and specifications for temporary excavation support, dewatering and groundwater control, trench safety, and construction phasing.
  • Support remedial design elements including soil mixing, in-situ solidification, slurry cutoff walls, cap and cover systems, geosynthetics selection, construction quality assurance planning, settlement monitoring, and contaminated soil and groundwater risk controls.
  • Prepare and check earthwork, grading, and backfill specifications; define compaction and quality assurance plans; review geotechnical requests for information and submittals; and support contractor means and methods reviews.
  • Take the technical lead in site civil designs and coordinate soil-structure interactions, construction-phase testing, and construction permitting.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through project delivery.
  • Coordinate sub-consultants and drilling and testing vendors to meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Complete requests for proposals, develop scopes of work, obtain vendor quotes, and evaluate technical merit.
  • Provide field engineering services during construction, including construction quality assurance and quality control observation, shop drawing reviews, submittals, and change evaluations.
  • Implement the Engineering Design Quality Management Plan and project quality controls.
  • Execute work professionally, safely, and ethically according to company values and client contracts.
  • Lead or participate in local professional societies and associations for networking.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree with a geotechnical emphasis is preferred.
  • Exposure to PLAXIS 2D/3D for advanced soil-structure interaction and staged construction analyses is preferred.
  • Exposure to the Rocscience suite, including Slide2, Slide3, and Settle3, is preferred.
  • Exposure to LPILE/Group or equivalent software for laterally loaded deep foundation analysis is preferred.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 30-Hour Construction, and CPR/First Aid are preferred.
