Requirements
  • Two years of experience in building maintenance are required.
  • The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A valid Ohio driver's license must be maintained, along with the ability to drive for The Salvation Army.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule preventive building maintenance and required inspections.
  • Develop and use a purchase order system to ensure purchases are necessary and within the operating budget.
  • Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate volunteers for property projects.
  • Notify the supervisor when contracted maintenance services are needed, obtain pricing when appropriate and requested, and monitor services such as trash and snow removal.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff and maintain required documentation.
  • Supervise and complete janitorial and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain maintenance records for agency vehicles and implement preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles assigned to Cleveland Temple Corps.
  • Complete special projects assigned by the Administration.
  • Assist Corps Officers with maintenance needs for assigned quarters and related equipment.
  • Perform janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, stripping, waxing, buffing, and maintaining floors.
  • Empty trash receptacles daily, replace liners, and clean receptacles as needed.
  • Clean offices, rooms, walls, doors, surfaces, and glass doors throughout the building.
  • Clean and replenish supplies in all restrooms.
  • Clean and prepare chapels for Sunday services and arrange chairs as needed.
  • Replace non-working light bulbs throughout the building.
  • Maintain the grounds and sidewalks, including snow removal and salting during inclement weather.
  • Remove or repaint graffiti inside or outside the building.
  • Inform Corps Officers of major repairs and assist with organizing storage areas.
  • Escort equipment service personnel and utility meter readers throughout the building and grounds.
  • Assist with Christmas ministry activities, including Angel Tree, distribution, and Kettles.
  • Drive Salvation Army vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, or services as assigned.
  • Assist with setting up, tearing down, and participating in corps or community events.
  • Assist with distributing donated food and communicate with the Social Service Office Manager and Corps Officers about donations.
  • Assist with other ministry activities and community outreach events as assigned.
