Requirements
  • Knowledge of quantity food production and standard sanitation and safety practices related to preparing, serving, and transporting food.
  • Experience managing for two years.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Two years of experience preparing and serving large quantities of food.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 6–8 hours throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, steamers, dishwashers, slicers, mixers, and warming units.
  • Ability to push and maneuver food carts, supply carts, and other equipment throughout the cafeteria and kitchen.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for food preparation, serving, cleaning, and cash handling when applicable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and coworkers in a busy cafeteria environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks at a sustained pace during meal preparation and service periods.
  • Ability to prepare, serve, and clean up breakfast, lunch, snacks, and other food-service operations.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing operational needs while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Adherence to food-safety, sanitation, personal-hygiene, and workplace-safety standards.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance and punctuality.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the use of commercial food-service equipment.
  • Use a computer to communicate with sites, access information, and place orders.
  • Estimate quantities needed and order correct amounts for economical food service.
  • Assist with requisitioning, receiving, and storing foods and supplies.
  • Prepare, cook, and bake a wide variety of food in large quantities.
  • Supervise kitchen operations.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with people contacted during work.
  • Maintain proper care of equipment and ensure kitchen sanitation.
  • Assist with inventory and maintaining records.
