As a WordPress plugin engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining plugins that are utilized by WordPress developers across the world to enhance their development experience and the sites they build. You will collaborate closely with our team of experienced WordPress engineers, leveraging their collective expertise to ensure that the plugins meet the diverse needs of our clients and contribute to the overall success of their WordPress websites.
 

The Day to Day

• Collaborate with an agile team to deliver high quality and timely value for WordPress developers

• Work with your team to design, write, test, integrate, and maintain plugins that are extensible, usable, and performant

• Provide valuable feedback to teammates through code and design reviews

• Maintain productive and trusting relationships with the manager, peers, and cross-functional stakeholders

• Help build a positive and inclusive community around the software we build; representing yourself and WP Engine well in every interaction
   

Skills and Expertise

• 2+ years software engineering experience

• Deep understanding of the inner workings of WordPress and how users build with it

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining WordPress plugins

• Proven experience with Object Oriented Programming

• PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript + the ability to quickly adapt to new software language requirements 

• Experience working with CI/CD, testing, deployment pipelines

• Driven to continue learning, and an eagerness to tackle big problems even with uncertain requirements

• A passion for providing customers with world class experiences and support

• You believe design matters and are an advocate for user experience

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
