The Process Engineer is responsible for developing or modifying manufacturing processes to increase product performance, improve manufacturing efficiency and boost profits. This position works closely with design engineers, equipment vendors, program managers, marketing, and quality engineers to support the development of new electromechanical products. They are responsible for providing the overall process design and suggesting measures to improve product design for manufacturability. This includes the development of new equipment and process flows as well as developing cost estimates for labor and capital. They will also provide ongoing sustaining support to production lines at our global make sites.

JOB DUTIES: Provide engineering support in reference to materials, processes and techniques of assigned product line(s). Determine empirically which changes are required to reduce or minimize production difficulties, improve performance characteristics and reliability. Design experiments and analyzes results. Assume overall responsibility of assigned projects and its deadlines. Analyze proposed product designs with respect to manufacturability. Determine manufacturing and techniques required to produce the product and maintain quality and reliability. Coordinate assignments with the related work of manufacturing and other engineering groups. Supply liaison service between Product Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing (including vendors) to solve problems and assure lowest possible costs and highest product quality. Develop new tooling and equipment, including design, procurement, and justification of capital expenditure requests for tooling rework and new programs. Conduct analysis and present detailed cost information to justify capital expenditures. Qualify new tooling and equipment using CpK and other process measurement studies as well as gage Repeatability & Reproducibility studies to ensure measuring and monitoring equipment is capable and can be placed into production. Participate in Discrepant Material Review disposition of components and products. Validate concepts through development and evaluation of prototypes, creates work instructions and recommends changes to existing documentation, including control plans, Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis and process flow charts and follows-up to ensure that all aspects of the change(s) are understood. Determine the standard earned labor hours for each part produced and enters those values into the data system. Create operations in the appropriate Work Centers in the data system for new products. Create new routings and modify existing routings to minimize variances. Approve engineering change orders and qualification activities for new product development. Perform/direct complex failure analysis of field and production failures. Solve complex problems using Shainin, Six Sigma, 8D methodologies, Design Of Experiments and other problem solving tools. Define the manufacturing tools & processes necessary to build prototypes and production quantities. Prepare relevant documentation & applicable tools/equipment for transfer to production facilities in both Mexico & North America.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or foreign equivalent and 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer, Project Manager and/or Product Engineer in a high production environment of electrical or electro-mechanical devices. 3 years of experience in each of the following: Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, APQP and PPAP; and Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. 1 year experience in each of the following: Solid Works or other comparable 3D modeling software; GD&T, and mechanical standards of fit & assembly; and Labview.
