Requirements
  • A high school diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience is required.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • The employee must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 0-25 pounds and occasionally handle objects weighing 25-50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, and perform repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements.
  • The employee must have sufficient vision and depth perception for near and far distances and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
  • The employee must be able to use hearing and speech for oral communication and hear alarms and malfunctioning machinery.
  • Frequent keyboard use and data entry are required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping and rare climbing.
Responsibilities
  • Assist customers by answering phones and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Assist laboratory staff with daily laboratory operations by collecting, labeling, processing, and preserving blood, urine, and other specimens according to established procedures.
  • Enter, access, and execute laboratory orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record systems.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory supplies and the work area.
  • Update statistical records, label tubes, and schedule processing runs as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomy and waived testing as needed.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order-entry processing, and medical-record processing.
  • Remain alert and work safely.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
