Tekton designs and manufactures professional-grade hand tools, including sockets, ratchets, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and tool storage systems, for both trade professionals and everyday users. The company sells a single, logically organized line of tools arranged by size and type, sourcing steel domestically and manufacturing select items in-house at its Grand Rapids, Michigan headquarters, while partnering with international suppliers for the rest of its lineup. What sets Tekton apart is its transparency, publishing country-of-origin details for every product, plus a no-time-limit, no-receipt warranty and same-day shipping. The goal is to build well-made, thoughtfully designed tools that reflect the idea that simpler is generally better and less is often more.

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 LTS support through July 2027 gives enterprises a stable upgrade path.
  • CNCF incubation increases legitimacy and distribution across cloud-native buyers and contributors.
  • Pipelines-as-Code becoming official Tekton project broadens ecosystem and reduces dependence on core maintainers.

What critics are saying

  • GitHub Actions owns workflow mindshare; Tekton loses on simplicity and marketplace depth.
  • Tekton YAML remains verbose, so teams adopt higher-level wrappers instead of Tekton directly.
  • If Argo, Jenkins X, and OpenShift Pipelines shift away, Tekton becomes infrastructure plumbing only.

What makes Tekton unique

  • March 2026: CNCF accepted Tekton as an incubating Kubernetes-native CI/CD project.
  • Tekton v1.15.0 LTS ships end-to-end OpenTelemetry tracing and resilient resolution on August 18, 2026.
  • Tekton’s strength is cluster-native execution; it runs pipelines inside users’ Kubernetes infrastructure.
