Requirements
  • Education: A Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing school.
  • Licensure: Active APRN license in the state of Missouri
  • Certification: Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (or equivalent specialty certification as approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing).
  • CPR Certification: Current BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in an OB/GYN clinic (or another relevant women’s health environment).
  • Leadership Skills: Strong clinical expertise and leadership abilities to guide patient care and team success.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care to a caseload of patients, coordinating with your healthcare teammates to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Educate patients, families, staff, and students, using proven teaching strategies to foster learning and empower others.
  • Keep learning and improving by actively participating in professional development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Share your expertise with the team and help guide health care decisions, applying your knowledge of women’s health to solve complex cases.
  • Work with nursing leadership to develop and implement new practices, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Utilize your advanced knowledge in women’s health, including testing, disease management, and procedures specific to the clinical specialty.
  • Be the face of the organization at local, regional, and national health forums focused on women’s health.
  • Foster an environment of safety, quality improvement, and cultural diversity in everything you do.
  • Deliver care with compassion and professionalism, tailored to meet the unique physical, emotional, and educational needs of every patient.
  • Keep your patient interactions friendly, respectful, and helpful—whether you’re meeting with patients, their families, or your team.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulations, laws, and best practices to ensure we meet all compliance requirements and ethical standards.

University Health is an academic health system with two acute-care hospitals, a large behavioral health program, a long-term care facility, and multiple primary care clinics. It delivers inpatient, emergency, surgical, and outpatient care through a connected network and serves as the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where doctors also train tomorrow’s physicians. Its downtown campus houses a Level One Trauma Center, and the system includes specialty centers like a cancer center, eye center, imaging, and a Family Birthplace.
