Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Five years of experience managing clinical operations in a healthcare setting or experience precepting, mentoring, and/or leading clinical staff is required.
  • Excellent people management skills are required.
  • The ability to motivate and challenge staff is required.
  • Good decision-making skills are required.
  • High frustration and ambiguity tolerance is required.
  • The ability to bridge administrative demands and clinical needs is required.
  • High skill and experience in process improvement are required.
  • A valid California Registered Nurse license from the California Board of Registered Nursing is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Fire Life Safety Training from the City of Los Angeles is required; if the card is not held upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained through renewal before expiration.
Responsibilities
  • Hold 24-hour accountability for the quality of patient care, operational efficiency, and human resources management for assigned areas.
  • Manage clinical operations for the Heart Transplant, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Liver programs under the direction of the Transplant Administrator.
  • Manage pre-liver transplant, post-liver transplant, living donor transplant, pre-heart transplant, post-heart transplant, and left ventricular assist device operations.
  • Direct the work of clinical transplant supervisors and oversee patient care program operations with 24/7 oversight of the transplant program.
  • Direct nursing practice, education, and services.
  • Supervise resource utilization and the application of new technological developments in patient care.
  • Perform complex and varied administrative and clinical assignments.
  • Serve as a contact for physicians, staff, and outside departments to address problems, issues, or concerns requiring attention.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Lead business development initiatives and drive revenue growth within respective organ groups.
  • Attend outreach activities and implement new events to drive revenue and patient satisfaction.
  • Negotiate deals and develop profitable partnerships using business acumen.
  • Manage program marketing and brand development, including multiple marketing channels through LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Directly or indirectly supervise subordinate staff.
  • Recruit, screen, hire, orient, and train staff.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and feedback to assigned staff.
  • Counsel, discipline, and terminate employees as required.
  • Train clinical staff to ensure compliance with hospital policies and maintain staff records.
  • Make recommendations for promotions, terminations, and salary decisions.
  • Recommend and monitor staff professional development.
  • Direct and coordinate patient care programs and evaluate their effectiveness, compliance, and adherence to patient care standards.
  • Direct compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and federal and state patient-care regulations, and prepare for agency inspections.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, complaints, and suggestions; correct deficiencies and document findings.
  • Record and investigate incidents and accidents.
  • Oversee quality-assurance activities for patient care provided by the unit.
  • Participate in hospital and departmental policy formation, long-range planning, and policymaking.
  • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures and ensure adherence.
  • Develop and implement security procedures, coordinate security activities with University Public Safety, and disseminate security information to staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient-care quality and provide objective performance data regarding clinical staff.
  • Assess staff education needs and oversee development of education programs.
  • Promote staff participation in educational opportunities and activities.
  • Administer facilities, equipment, space, and maintenance or repair of existing facilities and equipment.
  • Communicate assignments, priorities, and special requests to staff; manage staff workload; and monitor pending items and follow-ups.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a Master's degree in progress is strongly preferred and may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • One year of experience in transplant.
  • Two years of experience in an acute or ambulatory setting is preferred.
