Role Overview:
Are you passionate about merging the worlds of cannabis, design, and visual storytelling? We are looking for a Visual Merchandising Specialist to join our dynamic team in the NYC Metro Area. In this freelance role, you’ll enhance brand recognition and drive sales for 1906 and our partners (Hudson Cannabis, Tyson, and Holiday) through innovative merchandising strategies across approximately 40 dispensaries. Your creativity will shape the future of cannabis retail, making every store a journey and every display a narrative.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head of Visual Merchandising to develop and execute merchandising strategies that effectively tell our product’s story and improve customer experience.
- Spearhead visual strategies for new store openings and maintain compelling displays at ongoing locations.
- Drive sales and customer engagement through attractive visual presentations in display windows, focal walls, fixtures, and shelves.
- Regularly analyze sales trends in partnership with management, adapting strategies to meet unique store and customer needs.
- Maintain visual displays in a compelling manner, applying creative judgment to adapt company directions to local preferences.
- Conduct weekly walk-throughs with management to refine and enhance visual merchandising efforts.
- Travel to multiple store locations within the assigned territory, ensuring consistent and high-standard visual presentation across all venues.
Candidate Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of retail experience in merchandise presentation or visual merchandising, with a portfolio preferred.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong creative skills with a passion for engaging customers in a retail environment.
- Knowledge of current visual merchandising trends
- Reliable and punctual with a professional demeanor and a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Must possess valid drivers license
- A background in CPG, particularly in Alcohol, Beauty, or Food is preferred. Knowledge and passion for cannabis are a plus.
Availability:
This freelance position requires 20-25 hours of work per week, mostly during weekdays, with the flexibility to meet business needs.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $35 to $40, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
